MAT200 Math-Based Codes, Cyphers & Secrets

This course will expose students to the world of math-based codes and cryptography from elementary ciphers used in the ancient world to the most sophisticated modern-day encryption.  Topics include monoalphabetic and polyalphabetic ciphers as well as functions, statistics, combinatorics, elementary number theory, and methods of proof. History of ciphers will be discussed as well as techniques used to break them.
