Course Registration

Academic Load

A schedule of courses is published by the Office of the Registrar. Information contained in the schedule is subject to change at any time. It is the responsibility of the student to check and maintain a current and accurate course schedule.

Returning students may register during early registration periods or regular registration periods as specified by the Institution. Current students can enroll into classes each quarter based on the dates in the Academic Calendar.

A student taking 12 or more quarter hours toward an undergraduate degree or certificate program is classified as a full-time student for that term.  A student taking 9 or more quarter hours toward a graduate degree is classified as a full-time student for that term.  Graduate students taking 6 to 8 quarter credit hours are considered part time. Undergraduate students may register for no more than 23 credits per quarter.  Graduate students may register for no more than 15 credits per quarter. Students who meet specific academic criteria may apply for an exemption to the credit limit. Students may not attend, participate in, or receive credit for courses in which they are not properly registered. Contact the Office of the Registrar for more assistance.

Add/Drop Period

The add/drop period is defined as the first three class days of the first sprint of the quarter. Students may add or drop courses for either sprint during the add/drop period. Late fees may apply (see Financial Information section for details). Students who do not have an academic event during the add/drop period may be removed from the course or courses in question. Online add/drop is processed in real-time, and works on a first-come, first served basis. Courses that are dropped will no longer appear on a student’s transcript.

Course Adjustment Period

The course adjustment period is the first three school days of the second sprint of the quarter. Students may add or drop courses for the second sprint during the course adjustment period. The course adjustment period does not apply to quarter-length courses. Late fees may apply (see Financial Information section for details).

Students who have a course that begins in sprint 2 must have an academic event during the course adjustment period or they may be removed from the course or courses in question.

Course Auditing

Current Neumont students enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree-seeking program have the option to audit Neumont courses that are at or below the level of their current academic program. Audited courses do not impact a student’s pace or grade point average. They offer an opportunity to attend class sessions without participating in assignments, assessments, or group work.

Students enrolled in a qualifying degree program may audit Neumont courses under the following conditions:

  1. Have a cumulative grade point average (cGPA) of 3.50 or higher,
  2. Have previously passed the course, or the course is not required for graduation,
  3. Attend the course via its prescribed delivery method (on-ground, online, etc.).

Authorization to audit requires permission from the Vice President of Academic Operations and permission from the instructor. The audit option is contingent on available space within the course’s maximum enrollment. Students taking the course for credit have priority over audit students in terms of instructor time and responses to individual questions.

Permission to audit a course must be requested through the Registrar prior to the end of the add-drop (Sprint 1) or course adjustment (Sprint 2) periods. A $100 per course, per quarter audit fee applies.

Certificate program students do not have the option to audit courses.

Alumni Course Auditing

Neumont bachelor's degree graduates who are in good standing with the institution may audit Neumont courses within the degree program from which they graduated. Auditing courses requires registrar approval, authorization from the Vice President of Academic Operations, and permission from the instructor. Students taking the course for credit have priority over audit students for instructor time and response to individual questions.

Permission to audit a course is requested through the registrar, prior to the end of the add-drop (sprint 1) or course adjustment (sprint 2) periods. There is a $100 per course per quarter audit fee.
