LNG130 Artificial Languages

This course will examine artificial or constructed languages such as Dothraki, Klingon, Esperanto, Elvish, and Orcish. Concepts such as grammar, constructions, script, syntax, morphology and phonology, as well as the impact they have had on their respective genres and pop culture, will be addressed. Students will also engage in construction of their own artificial language. The selection of language(s) studied will be made at the discretion of the instructor.
